Hon. Roy McTaggart was first elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017 and in 2021. He served as Councilor (Parliamentary Secretary) to the Ministry of Health from 2013-2017. During the 2017-2021 term, he served as Minister for Finance and Economic Development. He is a member of The Progressives and was elected as Political Leader of the party in March 2021. Following the 2021 General Election, Mr. McTaggart became the Leader of The Opposition when the Progressives were unable to form the Government.
Mr McTaggart joined KPMG in the Cayman Islands in 1985, transferred to their Orlando office in 1986, and returned to the Cayman Islands in 1988. He was admitted to the partnership in 1991, became a joint Managing Partner in 2003 and was appointed Managing Partner in 2007. He was also Managing Director of KMPG in the British Virgin Islands from 2007-2012.
Mr McTaggart is a former chairman of the Board of Cayman Airways, director of Cayman Finance, director of the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange, and member of the Commission for Standards in Public Life. He has been active in many roles in the community, from serving in several posts with the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce, including two years as president, and director and chairman of the Young Caymanian Leadership Foundation.
Mr McTaggart is married to Glenda, and has three daughters and four Grandchildren.
