Mr Hew has been a member of Parliament since 2013. He served as a Councilor (now Parliamentary Secretary) to the Ministry of District Administration, Tourism and Transport. He was re-elected in 2017 and was named Minister for Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure. He was elected as Deputy Political Leader of the Progressives party in March 2021 at the Party Conference.
Following the 2021 Election, MP Hew became the Deputy Leader of The Opposition when the Progressives were unable to form the Government.
MP Hew served as managing director and chief operations officer of his family’s group of companies, which includes Hew’s Hotel & Restaurant Supplies, Restaurant Depot, Bon Vivant, Macdonald’s Restaurant, the Office Bar & Lounge, and Hew’s Janitorial. He is also a past President of the Chamber of Commerce, a past Director of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association and a Rotarian. He is an avid sports fan, especially football.
MP Hew is married to Cynthia, and has 2 children.
