Next week in Parliament, our Opposition members will request updates on a range of pressing matters, including roadworks, the Mental Health Facility, motorised scooters, and rising interest rates.
Here are the questions that will be asked:
MP Barbara Conolly (GTS) will ask the Hon Minister for Planning, Agriculture, Housing, & Infrastructure (Elected Member for North Side) the following questions:
1. Can the Honourable Minister advise what are the plans of the NRA regarding removing the double yellow lines placed on both sides of Hawkins Drive that have been a longstanding concern for many residents of that area?
2. Can the Honourable Minister advise what are the requirements, if any, for motorised bicycles, electronic bicycles, and electronic scooters to be used on public roads, including whether they are required to be insured, license and inspected and for helmets to be worn by the users?
MP Barbara Conolly (GTS) will also ask the Hon Minister for Health (Elected Member For Prospect) the following question:
Can the Honourable Minister advise whether the Mental Health Facility is still on track to be handed over at the end of June 2023?
MP Joey Hew (GTN) – Deputy Leader of the Opposition will ask the Hon Minister for Financial Services (Elected Member for West Bay South) the following question:
Can The Honourable Minister advise whether the Government has considered any strategies to assist the public in the current rising interest rate regime?
MP Barbara Conolly (GTS) will ask the Hon Minister for Tourism & Ports (Elected Member for George Town Central) the following question:
Can the Minister advise the House on the Government’s plans to improve the current condition of the temporary craft market?
MP Joey Hew (GTN) – Deputy Leader of the Opposition will ask the the Hon Minister for Planning, Agriculture, Housing, & Infrastructure (Elected Member For North Side) the following questions:
1. Can the Minister update the House on the plans of the National Housing Development Trust (NHDT) to build affordable housing in George Town, including whether the 25 acres site off the Lindford Pierson Highway will be utilised as intended for affordable homes or has the Government or the NHDT located replacement property in George Town of a similar size to accommodate affordable homes?
2. Can the Minister update the House on the plans to complete the Airport Connector Road, including the anticipated completion date?
MP Joey Hew (GTN) – Deputy Leader of the Opposition will ask the Hon Premier and Minister for Sustainability, Finance & Economic Development (Elected Member for Newlands) the following questions:
1. Can the Hon Premier update the House on the progress with the ReGen Project, including the date for the financial close and also advise whether the scope of the project has changed since the March 2021 contract signing between the Dart Group and the Government, and if so, what are those changes?
2. Can the Hon Premier update the House on his Government’s position on a Moratorium on the granting of some forms of Cayman Status?
